Our Busy Toddler

I love going to the "pawk" (park).  When I'm at the park, my favorite thing is the swings, especially when Daddy pushes me "high!" or "fast!"  I say it over and over so he'll push me super high.  Even though Mommy and Daddy ask me if I want to do other things like go down the slide, I would rather just stay on the swing the whole time I'm at the park.

I love books.  I really like it when Mommy and Daddy read to me.  I sometimes want to read the same book over and over again.

I think it's fun to walk in Daddy's and Mommy's shoes.  I usually put the shoes on the wrong foot but I can walk in them anyway.

It's fun to wear Daddy's hat on my head backwards.

My favorite new words are "Do it myself!"  I say this constantly...  I started drinking milk out of a cup now.  I'm such a big girl!

When I drink out of a cup, I get a milk goatee.  :)  Mommy has started putting my hair in "pig-n-tails" (pigtails) lately.

Daddy and Mommy like to take me on food adventures.  We went to Porto's Bakery and got lots of yummy food!

Speaking of food adventures, Daddy and Mommy want to take me somewhere for vacation soon because they say there is A LOT of good food there.  Check out the video to see where we want to go on vacation:

Daddy and Mommy like to go to garage-n-sales (garage sales) on Saturday.  Afterward, we like to go to McDonald's or Chick-fil-A.

Another place Daddy and Mommy like to go to is "Soup Plantation."  Daddy and Mommy give me lots of veggies but I would rather eat the mac n cheese and pasta.  Daddy and Mommy let me have a frozen yogurt cone for dessert.  Yum!!!

I got to eat popcorn for the first time the other day.  I loved it!

I love my stuffed animals.  One time I thought it would be fun to see if they could all fit on Caleb's bouncer seat.

I like sitting in Caleb's swing when he's not in it.

I can still fit in my old car seat - but it's Caleb's now.

I can still fit in the pack-n-play too.  Caleb sleeps in it during the day.

When I wake up in the morning, Mommy says I have crazy hair.  What do you think?

I love saying "cheese!" when Mommy takes a picture of me.

I get to have play dates with friends sometimes.  This is my friend, Jonathan.

Here are some of the things I've been saying lately:

- "Baby Tay-lub" (That's my brother's name)
- "Dada hold" or "Mama hold" (I hold my arms out and say this when I want Daddy or Mommy to pick me up)
- "Ow-oh" (owl) and "Ea-go" (eagle) (I say this to Daddy when I want him to show me videos of animals on YouTube)
- "Hi hun!" (I hear Daddy and Mommy saying this to each other so I like to say it, also)
- "Baby Sine-een" (I say this to Mommy when I want to watch the "Baby Signing Time" DVD)
- "Hot-n-top" (I say this over and over to Daddy and Mommy but they have no idea what I'm saying!)
- "Do it myself" (I say this A LOT because I want to be independant)
- "pig-n-tails" (pigtails)
- "Garage-n-sale" (garage sale)
- "Pop-n-corn" (popcorn)
- "No knock-n-it-down" (I say this when Mommy/Daddy and I are building a tower with blocks and I'm about to knock it down).

7 Weeks Old

So, our little guy is 7 weeks old today.  He is such a sweet little boy.  He is starting to smile which is so much fun!  He is over 11 lbs now and almost 24 inches long.  He is starting to wear his 0-3 months clothes now.  I know it's silly, but I'm sad about putting his newborn clothes away!  He is growing up so fast...

He is getting so big on this blanket!

His eyes are a blue-gray color.  Julia's were this color too and now they're green, so I'm curious what color his will end up.

Chillin' in his swing

Chillin' on his changing table

We still swaddle him because he sleeps so much better when he's swaddled.  He's so funny because he doesn't like it when we wrap his arms so he'll often grunt and fuss, trying to pull out his arms, but will eventually give up and fall asleep.  One time he was able to pull out his left arm but went back to sleep (and if you look closely he almost got his right arm out, too, but he must have given up before falling asleep).

Look at his thick dark head of hair.  So far not much of it has fallen out.  I'm really hoping most of it will stay!

Cutie patootie!

Clones of their Daddy?

I've always thought that Julia and Caleb were clones of their daddy.  Well, I got out my baby album and saw some pictures of me as a baby/toddler that changed my mind.  I saw some pictures of me as a newborn that really resemble Caleb right now!

I still think Julia is a clone of her daddy.  I mean, there's no denying it when you see evidence like this:

Ethan as a toddler
Julia as a toddler

But, I found a few pictures of me as a toddler that do remind me of Julia a bit.  So, I guess she is a good mix.  I couldn't find any good pictures of Julia to compare to my pictures, so I'll just include the pictures of me below and those of you who know Julia might see the resemblance.

One Month Old

Look who's one month old!  (Notice the "1" on the block next to his head.  I plan to take a picture like this every month - an idea I got from my good friend, Angie.)

**************************************

Our little guy is one month old already...  We are enjoying him so much.  We are noticing that he is able to focus on our faces a little more now.  He loves being held.  We call him "insta-stop" because if he is crying and we pick him up, he stops crying instantly!  He has very strong legs and when we do tummy time with him, we'll find him already pushing himself up on the blanket.  We love all the groans and grunts he makes - very manly.  :)  He is growing super fast (or atleast faster than Julia did at his age).  Here are his latest stats:

Weight: 10 lbs 5 oz (he has gained almost 3 lbs since birth - 2 lbs and 14 oz to be exact)
Length:  22 3/4 inches (he has grown 2 3/4 inches since birth)
Head: 15 1/4 inches (his head has grown 1 1/2 inches since birth)

This is a cute video of Caleb waking up (I love the stretches!  Too bad he didn't do any grunts like he usually does...).  You can hear Julia in the background making a kissing sound (she loves giving him kisses!).  Also, she keeps saying "Baby Signing?" because she loves watching the "Baby Signing Time" Video.

Adorable outfit my friend Mandy sent me

This was his Sunday outfit for our first day back to church.

Caleb loves it when daddy holds him this way...  He gets all limp and totally comfy with his arms and legs dangling.

Julia, Caleb, and I visited my friend Angie and her 3 kids the other day.  Angie was brave enough to let the kids paint.  Those of you who know Julia (and how she doesn't like to get dirty!) know that this is a big step for Julia.  She actually got totally messy and loved it.  :)  At first, Angie gave Julia some q-tips to paint with.  But it wasn't long before Julia started dipping her fingers in the paint and then using her whole hand to paint.  She was having fun and getting so dirty.  Yay!

Since finger/hand painting went so well at Angie's, I pulled out the paint again at my house and she had so much fun.  Yay for Julia being willing to get "messy."  :)

Just recently I started putting Julia's hair up in pigtails and I think it makes her look so grown up.  She calls it "Pig-in-tails."

Brother and Sister Comparison Pictures

I have had so much fun looking through some newborn pictures of Julia.  To my surprise, I have discovered that Julia and Caleb do look quite a bit alike.  Let me know what you think.  :)
