San Francisco again!

Ethan and I love going to San Francisco.  As you know, when we go on vacation, it is usually a culinary tour of whatever city we are visiting.  Since we have visited San Francisco several times, we have a few favorite restaurants we go to every time.  But we also tried a few new restaurants.  We went with our friends, Chad & Vicki and their 2 teenage sons, Tyler and Noah.  We had a great time!

Our first stop was a burrito at El Farolito.  After spicey Mexican, it was only natural that we would need ice cream at Humphrey Slocumb for dessert.  Mmmmm.

We tried a new restaurant for us - Tony's Pizza.  The pizza was super yummy.  This picture is Noah, Tyler, and Vicki.

Another new resaurant for us was "Dottie's True Blue Cafe."  We went there for breakfast.  It opened at 7:30 but we made sure to get there a little after 7:00 so that we could be near the front of the line (yes, the line does get super long and if you're not in the front, you will have to wait until customers are done with their breakfast...).  As you can see, we had the 3rd spot in the line.

Our family

Julia was so cute with those ears on her hood and all bundled up in her blanket.

Julia was so sleepy that she fell asleep in Ethan's arms!  It was precious.

Julia was so cute in her sun hat.

Ethan and I wanted to take Julia on a bike ride while Chad & Vicki's family went to Alcatraz.  Unfortunately, we found out that the infant seat on the bike was designed for babie's much bigger than Julia.  Also, the helmet was huge on her!  It was so funny.  The workers at the rental bike company were so helpful and tried so hard to make it work...

The only way to get the helmet to fit her was to put her hood on underneeth it!

The infant seat didn't work, so they tried a trailer that attached to the back of the bike.  Unfortunately, she was not able to hold herself up very well.

Also, the helmet was so heavy on her head, that she couldn't hold her head up after awhile!  Poor girl.  After we saw this we knew a bike ride was impossible for her at this time.  She was such a trooper.  She didn't fuss the whole time we were trying to work it out for her.

Me holding Julia on the bus.  We took public transportation everywhere (unless it was close enough to walk).

Mmmmm.  A cappucino at Blue Bottle Cafe.

Vicki babysat Julia one night so that Ethan and I could go see the Blue Man Group.  It was so much fun!

My favorite food adventure of all - Mama's.  We went there Saturday morning.

Julia loves her daddy!

The many, many sweet faces of Julia.  She is such a happy girl!

Julia is sitting on her own

As of a week ago, Julia is officially sitting on her own.  It is so nice to be able to just plop her down on the carpet and she can play with toys sitting up.  She still loses her balance but is getting better and better every day at sitting on her own.

Joanna's House

Joanna invited Johanna, me, and Angie over (along with all the kids).  Angie's daughters got sick at the last minute, so we missed having her there!

It was cute to see all the kids together.  Hopefully soon we'll do it again, this time including Angie and her 3 kids.

Tirzah and Julia (Tirzah is about a year older than Julia)

Tirzah loved Julia.  She kept giving her kisses - it was so cute.  :)

Dad and Mom's Visit

Last week, my parents visited for a few days.  They brought their trailer with them, so they stayed in an RV Park nearby.  The night they arrived, Ethan and I met them at the RV Park.  They made dinner for us.  The next day, they hung out at our place.  Julia really enjoyed having them around.  :)

Mandy's Wedding

My good friend, Mandy, got married this past weekend up in Northern California.  I had the honor of being a bridesmaid.  It was so special to be able to be a part of her special day.

Me and Mandy on Thursday night.  Hal's parents hosted a BBQ for family and friends who were there early for the wedding.

Hal's parents own a vineyard in Potter Valley.  This was a view of their "backyard."  Gorgeous!

Mandy treated all her bridesmaids to a yummy breakfast Friday morning.

After breakfast, she treated us to manicures and pedicures!

The wedding site the night before

Friday night, we practiced outside in the rain.  :)

The wedding was scheduled to be outside. Sadly, a big storm was coming through that weekend... (not quite what you would expect in June...) So, they were holding out until the last minute to decide if it would be indoors or outdoors. They set up the chairs outside in hopes that the rain would go away for the wedding... Plan B would be to have the ceremony inside the tent where the tables were for the meal afterward. God was so gracious and allowed them to have the wedding outside. There was a mist much of the morning but not a heavy rain. About half-way through the ceremony, it started to rain! Guests started popping open their umbrellas and the best man popped open his umbrella for Hal and Mandy. It was comical! The bridesmaids backed up so that we could stand under a tree for a little bit of protection. Thankfully, it didn't rain too hard. It was quite a memory. :)

The beautiful bridesmaid bouquets!  I loved the purple.

The bridal party was taken by SUVs to the wedding site.  The wedding site was in a clearing surrounded by hills & a creek.  We (the bridal party) had to get there by a different road since we didn't want to be seen by the guests.  Our road was a dirt road.  Since it had been raining, it was muddy so the ride was a little scary as we were slipping and sliding down the hill.  Thankfully our drivers (2 of the groomsmen)were very cautious and got us there safely!

Our drivers (2 of the groomsmen) had to get out to move a fallen tree from the path!  :)

Mandy & Hal, just minutes after being pronounced husband and wife!  Yay!  :)

Taking pictures after the wedding (what you can't see is our goosebumps from the cold & the raindrops falling on us)

My sweet girl, she was such a trooper!  She loved being help by everyone.

Julia wanted to eat my flowers (everything goes in mouth!)

Hal & Mandy, cutting the cake

What a sweet couple.  Her husband, Hal, is such a great guy! I'm so happy for them and excited to see how God will use them as a couple. They both have such a heart for people and missions...
